AV Service Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Service Manager to lead our AV service and support operations. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for client service requests, diagnosing technical issues, coordinating service dispatches, and maintaining system health for clients throughout the DMV area.

The ideal candidate brings several years of hands-on technical AV troubleshooting experience, excellent client communication skills, and familiarity with internal management tools like HubSpot and Google Workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Request Management: Monitor, prioritize, and respond promptly to incoming service requests, system outages, and support tickets from clients across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex AV systems remotely or on-site, including control systems, audio DSPs, video conferencing hubs, digital signage, and network infrastructure.

  • Service Operations & Workflow: Utilize HubSpot to manage ticket lifecycles, track resolution times, maintain client service histories, and schedule service dispatches.

  • On-Site & Remote Field Support: Perform on-site field service visits, system maintenance, firmware updates, and repair work as needed.

  • Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, installers, and client account managers using Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar) to ensure seamless internal communications and service delivery.

  • RMA & Vendor Coordination: Manage equipment RMAs, vendor support cases, and replacement parts inventory for service jobs.

  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, conduct follow-ups after service visits, and help identify opportunities for system upgrades or preventative maintenance agreements.

Qualifications & Requirements

    • AV Experience: 3+ years of direct experience servicing, installing, or troubleshooting professional Audio-Visual systems (commercial or high-end residential).

    • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of core AV hardware and software solutions (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, commercial displays, and audio distribution).

    • Networking Fundamentals: Working knowledge of basic IP networking concepts (TCP/IP, routers, switches, VLANs) as applied to AV-over-IP networks.

    • Software Proficiency:

      • Hands-on experience with HubSpot (Service Hub / CRM ticketing) or a similar ticket management system.

      • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar).

    • Certifications (Preferred but not required): AVIXA CTS / CTS-I, or vendor-specific certifications (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Dante).

    • Location & Travel: Must reside in or near the DMV area, hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and be willing to travel to job sites throughout MD, DC, and VA.

AV Project Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and highly organized AV Project Manager to oversee a dynamic portfolio of commercial and government AV installation projects ranging from regional integrations to nationwide rollouts.

In this role, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from initial engineering review and kickoff through installation, testing, and client handover. You will balance time between our local office, remote work, and occasional job-site visits to ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and documented meticulously using HubSpot and Google Workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio & Lifecycle Management: Lead multi-site commercial AV installation projects ($1M–$3M+ in aggregate/individual project value), serving as the main operational point of contact for clients, general contractors, sub-trades, and internal teams.

  • Scheduling & Resource Allocation: Coordinate engineering, procurement, field technicians, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are hit efficiently.

  • Documentation & System Tracking: Maintain meticulous project records, field notes, schedules, budget updates, and client communications within HubSpot and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar).

  • Site Coordination & Quality Control: Perform regional and national site visits to oversee project progress, conduct quality control checks, ensure safety protocols, and manage technical commissioning.

  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Track project labor, material costs, change orders, and profit margins to keep every project financially on target.

  • Communication & Risk Management: Proactively identify potential delays, technical conflicts, or supply chain bottlenecks and resolve them before they impact delivery timelines.

Travel Requirements

  • Regional Travel (Up to 25%): Occasional day/overnight trips to project sites across the Mid-Atlantic region (DC, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey).

  • National Travel (~10%): Minimal nationwide travel to kick off major projects, perform final commissioning, or attend client meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • AV Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of direct project management experience leading large-scale commercial AV installation projects ($1M–$3M+ total project scope).

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of commercial AV system architectures (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Zoom/Teams Rooms, video walls, digital signage, and AV-over-IP networks).

  • Software Skills:

    • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs).

Lead AV Install Techician

Location – DC, Maryland, Virginia

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Lead AV Installation Technician to serve as our senior-most installer on site. In this high-impact role, you will lead daily installation operations in the field—guiding junior technicians and 3rd-party subcontractors to deliver top-tier AV integrations on schedule.

As the field lead, you are the standard-bearer for Edge Technologies’ quality craftsmanship. Beyond hands-on installation, cable management, and rack fabrication, you will maintain clear daily logs and progress updates for project managers and leadership using our internal tech stack (HubSpot and Google Workspace).

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Crew Management: Direct daily field activities, lead junior installation technicians and 3rd-party subcontractors, delegate tasks effectively, and keep project timelines on schedule.

  • Hands-on Technical Installation: Perform structural mounting (displays, video walls, projectors, ceiling speakers), physical rack building/lacing, cable pulling, termination (RJ45, DB9, XLR, BNC, soldered), and cable management to industry-leading visual and technical standards.

  • Testing & Pre-Commissioning: Utilize specialized tools and testers to perform point-to-point cable testing, signal flow verification, network link testing, and basic system troubleshooting prior to commissioning.

  • Daily Documentation & Communication: Keep leadership and Project Managers informed daily by logging site progress, field notes, photos, and task completions using HubSpot and Google Workspace on your company iPad.

  • Quality Assurance & Safety: Enforce Edge Technologies’ craftsmanship standards and ensure all site work adheres to strict safety guidelines (OSHA) and local building codes.

  • Client & Contractor Interaction: Represent Edge Technologies professionally when interacting with jobsite superintendents, general contractors, IT teams, and client representatives.

Travel Requirements

  • Regional Travel (Up to 20%): Occasional day/overnight trips to project sites across the Mid-Atlantic region (DC, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct commercial AV installation experience, with proven experience in a lead or senior technician capacity.

  • Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of commercial AV signal flow diagrams, control networks, audio DSPs, video distribution, microphones, video conferencing (Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms), and AV-over-IP architectures.

  • Leadership Mentality: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior techs, manage contractor crews, maintain morale, and drive projects across the finish line on time.

  • Tech-Savvy & Organized: Ability to comfortably navigate digital workflow tools on a tablet/smartphone (HubSpot, Google Workspace: Gmail, Drive, Sheets/Docs, Calendar) for daily field reporting.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, work on ladders/scaffolding/scissor lifts, and work in active construction environments.
